This time of year always feels like a small reset for my routine. I’ve been keeping everything really simple, nothing too layered, just a few products that feel easy to use day to day. Hydrate, base, makeup!

HYDRATING SKINCARE

This is usually where everything starts. If my skin feels balanced, I don’t really need much else.

I’ve been focusing on lighter, hydrating layers that sit well under makeup and don’t feel heavy throughout the day.

EVERYDAY BASE PRODUCTS

I’ve been keeping coverage minimal. I just have enough to even things out without fully covering everything.

Anything that blends easily and still lets skin come through tends to work best here.

SOFT, NATURAL MAKEUP ESSENTIALS

This is the part I’ll adjust depending on the day, but it always stays pretty minimal.

Cream products have been the easiest to work with — they blend quickly and don’t feel overdone. Editors and makeup artists consistently lean toward cream blushes for a “natural, dewy finish” that looks like real skin.

“I wear makeup because it’s fun; it’s like painting on my face.”

I Keep Coming Back To:

When I was starting with my own routine, and what I recommend to those who ask, these are the kind of products I’d recommend:

CREAM BLUSH (SOFT, NATURAL FLUSH)

Hydrating cream blush that melts into the skin for a soft, dewy finish.

This is the kind of product that makes everything look a bit more awake without needing much else. I’ll usually tap a small amount onto my cheeks and leave it at that.

MULTI-USE LIP + CHEEK

Cream stick that works for both lips and cheeks with a natural, blendable finish.

I tend to reach for something like this on busier days. It keeps everything consistent without needing multiple products.

HYDRATING LIP BALM

Simple hydrating balm that keeps lips soft and natural throughout the day.

This is usually the last step. Nothing too glossy, just something that makes everything feel finished.

Lip balms like this are designed for quick hydration and everyday wear, often used for prep or touch-ups throughout the day.

HOW IT FITS INTO MY DAY

Most days, this is all I end up using:

  • something hydrating underneath
  • a light base (if anything)
  • a cream blush
  • a simple lip

~FINAL THOUGHTS

It’s less about doing a full routine and more about having a few things that work without thinking too much about it.

I try not to worry about adding more, but rather keeping a few things that consistently work, and let everything else fall away.
