I’m in My Workout Era, Here’s Everything I Loved From BetterMe Activewear

By Retail Verdict Editorial · Last Updated August 2026

August isn’t the obvious moment for a workout reset, but here we are: my reformer membership lapsed in April, and this BetterMe activewear review is what came out of rebuilding the habit at home instead. I train at home four or five times a week: mostly Pilates and weights on a mat, with a long walk on the days in between. That means I’m not dressing for a studio or a class, so what I want from activewear is fairly simple. A waistband that stays put through floor work. Fabric that holds up when I fold forward. Pieces I don’t have to adjust mid-session. Those were the three things I judged everything in this review against.

So I wanted to test BetterMe properly: pieces that look considered and still behave when nobody’s watching. Its coaching app has lived on my phone for two years, and when the store’s leggings started trailing me around Instagram I was curious and a little wary app brands branching into clothing usually means logo sweatshirts. Then a woman from my old studio turned up in the chocolate capris and told me she’d worn them three times that week. That was enough.

BetterMe Store is the activewear and clothing line attached to a much larger wellness ecosystem, with health-coaching and mental-health apps, a fitness tracker, a smart scale, equipment and supplements all under one roof. The clothing is broader than I expected: leggings, capris, sports bras, tops, jackets, hoodies, joggers, shorts, dresses, catsuits, shapewear and jeans, sorted into edits like Gym Girl, Pilates Princess, Catline and Everyday Basics, plus a Gamut-certified Adaptive Collection. Aesthetically it’s earthy neutrals ivory, chocolate, mocha, beige, black with pinks, blues, greens and yellows for anyone who finds that dull. Clothing runs roughly $19 to $89, and the sale section means full price is often optional.

For context, I’m 5’6″, usually a US 8, and a medium in most tops. I tried everything in a medium and it was accurate throughout, though the compression styles have a firm, held-in feel, so go up a size if you prefer more give. The women’s range spans XS to 2XL, and the BetterMe size guide lists measurements per garment rather than one blanket chart worth two minutes of your time when you’re shopping online. Good to know before you order: the returns policy gives you 30 days, and since sizes are swapped by returning and reordering rather than exchanging, it’s worth measuring your waist and hips first and starting with one or two pieces before you commit to a full set. I styled each look in coordinated colorways and reviewed every piece with pros and cons.

If you want to know which pieces earned a permanent spot in my rotation, scroll on for the four BetterMe looks I tested, all available online now.

1. SCULPT ZIP CROP VEST + CAPRI LEGGINGS + EXERCISE MATS

My Review: Black is hardly a bold opening move and I’ll own that, but a set in one uninterrupted shade does something for how you carry yourself that a mismatched pairing never manages. The base here comes from BetterMe’s Sculpt line, the zip crop vest and the high-waisted capri leggings, both in a nylon-spandex blend that also comes in chocolate and ivory. The fabric is dense and cool to the touch, closer to swimwear than the brushed buttery stuff everyone’s pushing, and it hasn’t pilled once in four washes. The capris are the reason I’d reorder. A waistband that creeps down mid-bridge is my number one activewear grievance, and these didn’t budge through single-leg work, a long side-lying series or fifty slow bridges. Squats read fully opaque under a bright overhead light, which is the only squat test worth running. The hem lands just below my calf, and I liked that far more than I expected in August. The vest is where I have notes. Unzipped over a bralette it’s excellent, and the crop sits flush to the high waistband with no gap. Zipped, it shapes but gives no bust support, so you’re layering something underneath regardless of budget for it. And lying supine, the zipper pull rests right against your sternum; I noticed it on every roll-up.

2. Contour Stitch Bralette + Contour Stitch Crop Top + Contour Stitch Leggings

My Review: For anyone who has developed a chocolate-brown problem this year (hello, it’s me), this tonal trio is the one I was most excited to unbox. All three come from BetterMe’s Contour Stitch family: the bralette, the crop top and the leggings built on vertical seams rather than side panels, in a polyester-spandex blend that feels thinner and stretchier than the Sculpt fabric above.

The leggings were the standout of the entire test. There’s no thick front seam to dig in as you sit into a squat, and they come through deadlifts and a heavy hip-thrust set without one adjustment. The bralette earns real points for adjustable straps and removable cups, rare at $58, but supports tops out at light-to-medium: a lifting and Pilates bra, not a running bra. I tried a slow two miles in it and thought about that decision the entire way.

3. Ultimate Mesh Top + Semi-Sheer High-Rise Leggings + Toning Pilates Ring

My Review: Next up, the look I side-eyed on the product page and then completely came around to on the mat. The Semi-Sheer High-Rise Leggings mix opaque nylon with sheer mesh panels down the leg, and at $48 they’re the cheapest bottoms in the range. They’re considerably tamer than the photograph implies.

The Ultimate Mesh Top is a proper bra-top hybrid: paneled back, stay-put straps, enough compression to skip a separate bra for anything low-impact. Airflow through that back panel beat every Sculpt piece I tried during a long barre session in a room with no air conditioning the sort of thing you only find out in August.

4. Pilates Princess Zip Jacket + Loose Tank Top + Longline Flare Leggings

My Review: The Longline Flare Leggings are, I’ll say it, the best-looking thing BetterMe makes: long clean seams and a kicked hem that reads far more trouser than gym gear. I’ve worn them for coffee twice now with nobody assuming I’d come from a workout.

The Pilates Princess Zip Jacket is a thin, fitted layer with thumb holes, cropped just high enough to clear the waistband. Treat it as a shoulder-season piece rather than a winter one. Underneath, the Loose Tank Top is a cotton-polyester blend with open sides and a breathable inner layer, and after all that compression it feels like a small holiday.

Best for long walks, standing intervals and gentle mat work. For heavy lifting or anything that puts you on your back on a studio floor, reach for one of the first three looks instead.
